Mother Nature must be a race fan, because after a full week of rain we had clear blue skies for Saturday night's races. After all the rain, the track was sure to be heavy, and sure to be fast ……….. and it was!!

The #M17 of Brent Munson started up front in E-Mod Heat #1, and he stayed way out front all the way to the checkered flag. Brent Munson had a full straightaway lead to score the Heat win, followed by the #85E of Oscar Everett in 2nd. The #3M of Chris McMahill started up front in E-Mod Heat #2, and he also stayed up front all the way to the end for the win. The #28 of Phil Schnarr wasn't as lucky, but he was able to pass all the other cars on the track - and he had to pass them twice! Schnarr started in the back of the field, made his way up to 2nd, got sent all the way to the back again, and raced his way back up through traffic for a strong 2nd place finish. The #4 of John Winters jumped out front in a hurry in E-Mod Heat #3, and was able to stay out front all the way to the end. The #M3 of Chuck McDonald was able to work his way through traffic to finish 2nd.

The #M1 of Dale Munson led most of Modified Heat #1, but the #28 of "Jammin" Jimmy Hibser got around Munson to take the lead on the last lap. Jim Hibser scored the Heat win, followed by Dale Munson in 2nd. The #26 of JD Beal jumped out front in a hurry in Modified Heat #2 to take home a checkered flag, followed by the #34 of Bill Anderson in 2nd. The #4T of Tony Hibser was out front all the way and raced his way to a victory in Modified Heat #3, with the #42 of Matt Smith finishing a close 2nd.

Harry Fourdyce in the #31 Thunder Truck ran out front all the way in Truck Heat, with the #8 of Dave Collins finishing behind him in 2nd.

The #29J of Lindell Jewell started deep on the field in Late Model Heat #1, but by lap #2 he had raced his way through traffic and into the lead. The #3G of Bob Goodin also started in the back, but was challenging for the lead by lap #6. Lindell Jewell was able to hold off the competition to score the win, followed by Bob Goodin in 2nd. The #11 of Brad Denney led all the way in Late Model Heat #2 and scored another win, followed by the #10M of Chad Pratt in 2nd.

The #81K of Mark Ross was fast again tonight, scoring a strong win in the Pro Street Heat race. The #18 of Terry Pratt finished in 2nd, followed by the #12T of Tom Turnbull in 3rd.

The #68 of Lance Alcorn and the #8 of Eric Wisher raced each other hard in Hobo Heat #1. Lance Alcorn was able to hold on to the lead and scored the win, followed by the #8 of Eric Wisher in 2nd. The #19 of Durland Pople jumped to an early lead in Hobo Heat #2, and stayed out front all the way to the checkered flag. The #11 of Scott Denney quickly raced his way through traffic and finished in 2nd.

The #4 of John Winters lined up in 4th to start the E-Mod Feature, but by a lap #2 restart, Winters was in the lead, bringing the #28 of Phil Schnarr along with him into 2nd. Another car that was on the move in a hurry was the #96 of Kirk Anderson. Anderson started way back in the 12th spot, but by lap #6 he was racing side by side with the #M3 of Chuck McDonald in a battle for the 3rd spot. To make things even more exciting, the #M17 of Brent Munson got a great restart after a lap #6 caution and joined in the battle for 3rd. Munson, McDonald, and Anderson were racing THREE WIDE for couple of laps, allowing Winters to open up an even bigger lead. Anderson moved into 3rd on lap #8, and quickly set his sights on Schnarr. Anderson was able to get a nose under Schnarr, but couldn't complete the pass. With everyone racing for position behind him, the #4 of John Winters was able to "check out" and scored a very convincing Feature win. The #28 of Phil Schnarr finished in 2nd by a nose over the #96 of Kirk Anderson. The #M17 of Brent Munson finished in 4th, followed by the #M3 of Chuck McDonald in 5th.

The #48 of Casey Lappin lined up for the Modified Feature on the pole, and that was definitely the place to be. Lappin ran 20 greats laps out front and led the race from starting flag to checkered flag. Behind him, however, was another story! The #88 of Steve David started in the 2nd spot, but the #42 of Matt Smith was able to get under David and move up into the 2nd position on lap #5. The #M1 of Dale Munson and the #28 of "Jammin" Jimmy Hibser were also moving up in a hurry. Munson, who started back in 8th, and Hibser, who lined up in 10th, had quickly made their way through traffic and were up and battling for the 3rd spot by lap #6. Further back in the pack there were also several cars battling for position. The #25 of Butch Weisser, the #4T of Tony Hibser, the #31 of Mark Anderson, and the #96 of Kirk Anderson, the #26 of JD Beal, and the #M21 of Justin Munson were all bumping doors and trading paint in the battle for 6th thru 10th. With all the battling for position going on behind him, Lappin was able to put some breathing room between himself and the rest of the field. Casey Lappin kept his #48 Modified out front all the way and scored the first Feature win of his career - Congratulations Casey on a GREAT race!!! Casey wasn't the only one smiling - the #M1 of Dale Munson raced his way up to a strong 2nd place finish. Not only was he pleased with his #M1 car, but he was pleased with the performance of all the rest of his cars as well. Dale pretty much hibernated in his shop all winter long, building practically an entire fleet of new MRE Racing Chassis. Three out of the top five finishers (Casey Lappin, Dale Munson, and Steve David) were driving new MRE Race Cars, and two more (Justin Munson and JD Beal) were in the top eleven. Congratulations to Dale Munson and the whole MRE team!!!! The #28 of "Jammin'" Jimmy Hibser raced his way to a strong 3rd place finish, followed by the #42 of Matt Smith in 4th, and the #88 of Steve David in 5th.

The Thunder Truck Feature may have been caution free last week, but that was NOT the case this week! Yellow was the predominant color of the race, as one caution flag waved after another. There was a LOT of bumping and banging, and even more spinning, but the #26 of Ryan Wilson was able to stay out in front of most of the chaos and the mayhem. The #D9 of Richard Pagan, the #87 of Rick Huffman, and the #8 of Dave Collins were not as lucky. They were all racing hard for every position, and passing each other back and forth all the way. Ryan Wilson was able to keep the #26 out front all the way, and scored himself the Feature win. The #87 of Rick Huffman made his way towards the front for the 2nd place finish, followed by the #8 of Dave Collins in 3rd, and the #D9 of Richard Pagan in 4th.

The Late Model Feature can be summed up in only two words - BRAD DENNEY! Brad took the #11 out front on the very first lap, and he sailed away from the rest of the field in the first few laps. By lap #6, Denney wasn't even in the same area code as the rest of the field! There was a lot of great racing going on behind him though. The #29J of Lindell Jewell was on the move in a hurry, quickly making his way to the front, but he had plenty of company from the #10M of Chad Pratt, the #3G of Bob Goodin, the #B12 of Roger Nelson, and the #12 of Floyd Jordan, Sr. About mid-race, Jewell pulled off the track, but he was able to make his way in and out of the pits in a hurry, and once back out on the track, he didn't waste any time making his way through traffic and back up into the top 5. Caution sent several cars spinning on the front-stretch, and Jordan, who was also running in the top 5, was sent to the pits with damage to his #12 car. Cautions didn't matter ……….. lap traffic didn't matter ………….. Denney was out front - and he was out front to stay! Brad Denney brought the #11 to victory lane, nearly a half lap ahead of the rest of the field! The #10M of Chad Pratt raced his way to a 2nd place finish, followed by the #3G of bob Goodin in 3rd, the #29J of Lindell Jewell in 4th, and the #B12 of Roger Nelson in 5th.

The #5 of Deric Sweitzer started out front in the Pro Street Feature, and he stayed out front for a few laps, but transmission problems reared their ugly head and he started loosing ground to the rest of the field. The #18 of Terry Pratt wasn't having any problems though, jumping to the lead and quickly putting some breathing room between himself and the #81K of Mark Ross and the #12T of Tom Turnbull. There were only four cars in the Feature, and by lap #4 they were spread out all around the track with no one really making any challenges for position. Terry Pratt and his #18 Pro Street scored the Feature win, followed by the #81K of Mark Ross in 2nd, and the #12T of Tom Turnbull in 3rd. Despite the tranny problems, Deric Sweitzer held on to the end and brought home a 4th place finish for the #5 car.

Brad Denney wasn't the only Denney in the winner's circle tonight. The #11 of Scott Denney quickly made his way to the front of the field in the Hobo Feature, and he stayed there until the checkered flag waved. There was a LOT more side-by-side racing in the Hobo Feature, though. The #68 of Lance Alcorn and the #8 of Eric Wisher were battling each other HARD for the 2nd spot, with the #64 of Curtis Link and the #35 of Josh Smith right behind them, also trying to move up a position. Scott Denney kept his #11 out front to score the Feature win, and the 2nd victory for Denney Farms tonight. The #68 of Lance Alcorn was able to hold off Wisher to bring home the 2nd place finish. The #8 of Eric Wisher finished in 3rd, followed by the #64 of Cutis Link in 4th, and the #35 of Josh Smith in 5th.

Once again, lining the drivers up in the staging area proved to be a HUGE success! Officials …….keep up the good work - we LOVE getting home early!!

It was another GREAT night of racing at SPOON RIVER SPEEDWAY!!!!
