Brenda & Brandon David

The weather was HOT tonight, and so were a lot of tempers, but the track was TACKY & FAST, and we were in for a great night of racing!

The #21 of Daryl Barth led the first 3 laps of E-Mod Heat #1, but the #25 of Phil Schnarr was able to get around him in turns #3 & #4 on lap #3 and take the lead. The rest of the pack pretty much ran the entire race single file, with no changes for position. Schnarr was able to pull away from Barth and score the win. Barth finished 2nd, followed by the #30 of Rob Bauman, Jr. in 3rd, and the #2T of Don Taylor in 4th.

The #30 of Rob Bauman, Sr. and the #M17 of Brent Munson may have lined up 3rd and 5th for E-Mod Heat #2, but by the first corner, the two were fighting for the lead. Munson was all over the back bumper of Bauman the entire race, but couldn't get around him. The #3m of Chris McMahill ran a solid 3rd all by himself, with a back-and-forth battle for 4th going on between the #5 of Jake Helfers and the #66 of Rabon Wyatt. Rob Bauman, Sr. holds on for the win, followed by Brent Munson in 2nd, Chris McMahill in 3rd, and Jake Helfers in 4th.

Cross Flag The driver of the #66 E-Mod, Rabon Wyatt, was one of the drivers we had a chance to talk to tonight. Rabon's car looked good in the heat race, battling for the 4th spot all the way through. Rabon races with us from London Mills, Illinois. His pit crewmembers include JR Hanks, Dustin Branch, and Brandon Brown, and his car is sponsored by Wyatt Tie & Lumber and B & B Auto Ranch. Rabon says his biggest fan is Felicia Swank. When we asked Rabon how his car was running, his answer was "Good, for a rookie". His goal for the season is to finish in the Top 10. When we asked Rabon what driver he looks up to the most, his answer was Dale Munson, because the two are good friends, and Dale gives him good advice. What does Rabon like the most about Spoon River Speedway? The high banks. The least? The "Paid for" pit spots up against the fence. He doesn't understand why you would want to pay extra for a pit, when you still have to lay in the dirt to work on your car. Rabon would also like to see more pictures on the Spoon River Website. Our thanks to Rabon for taking the time out of his busy evening to talk with us tonight. We certainly wish him a very safe & successful season.

E-Mod Heat #3 started with a good battle for the lead between the #M3 of Chuck McDonald and the #85E of Oscar Everett. Right behind them, the #64 of Jim Picardi and the #42 of Tim Bishop were fighting for the 3rd spot. Bishop is able to move into 3rd on lap #2, and moves up into a 2nd place battle with Everett by lap #3, which allows McDonald to open up a nice lead. Chuck McDonald easily brings home the checkered flag, followed by Oscar Everett in 2nd, Jim Picardi in 3rd, and Tim Bishop in 4th.

The #J12 of Jason Wagner may have started 5th in Modified Heat #1, but by the 1st turn, he was in the lead, with the #98 of Dale Munson close behind. The #13 of Keith Wilson moved up to 3rd from a 7th place starting position, with the #42 of Matt Smith and the #48 of Casey Lappin battling for 4th behind him. Munson is able to make the pass on Wagner and take the lead on lap #5. Dale Munson holds on to the lead and scores the win, followed by Jason Wagner, Keith Wilson, and Casey Lappin.

The #34 of Bill Anderson started on the pole of Modified Heat #2, but quickly had company with the #192 of Brian Allen challenging for the lead on lap #1. The #12 of Eddie Bolander is on the move, working his was from a 5th place start into a battle for 2nd by lap #3, and he gets around Allen on lap #4 to take the 2nd spot. The #28 of Jim Hibser was challenging the #26 of JD Beal for the 4th spot, but Beal was able to hold him off. Bill Anderson is able to open up a good lead and easily scores the win. Eddie Bolander finishes 2nd, Brian Allen finishes 3rd, and JD Beal crosses the start-finish line in 4th.

Cross Flag The driver of the #192 Modified, Brian Allen, was another one of the drivers we had a chance to talk to tonight. Brian and his crew race with us from Bartonville, Illinois. Brian's pit crewmembers include his Dad & Mike, and his Modified is sponsored by Pierce Chassis and Brian Allen Construction. Brian's biggest fans are his wife, Gail, and his kids, Kourtni and Brandon. When we asked Brian how his car was running, his answer was "Good"! It sure looks A LOT better than good, Brian!! Brian's goal for the season is simple …………. WIN!! What does Brian like the most about Spoon River Speedway? The high banks and the high speed! The least? The "clowns" on the track who don't know how to drive. Our thanks to Brian for taking the time to visit with us, and we certainly wish him and his racing team a very successful season.

The #4T of Tony Hibser started on the pole in Modified heat #3, but the #00 of Ed Barth was ALL Over his back bumper challenging for the lead. Barth is able to get under Hibser on lap #2, bringing the #28 of Phil Schnarr along with him for 2nd. The #292 of Bobby Allen, who started all the way in the back, is up and challenging for 3rd by lap #4. Barth, Schnarr, and Allen battle for the lead late in the race, with a good fight for 4th right behind them between Hibser and the #69 of Randy Stuber. Ed Barth is able to hold on to the lead and take home the checkered flag. Phil Schnarr finished 2nd, literally "by a nose", with Bobby Allen in 3rd, and Tony Hibser in 4th.

The #22B of Richie Biswell had the pole position in Modified Heat #4, but he had LOTS of company in a hurry when the #25 of Butch Weisser and the #97P of Phil Johns move up to make a challenge for the lead. Weisser is able to get under Biswell, bringing Johns along with him on lap #2. The #17 of Rick Scott and the #31 of Mark Anderson were having a good battle for 4th, but Anderson was able to take the position, and then set his sites on Johns. With all the racing going on behind him, Butch Weisser once again opens up a BIG lead, and brings home another checkered flag. Johns gets sucked up by the "muck" on the high side of the track, and Mark Anderson is able to drive under him to bring home a 2nd place finish. Phil Johns finishes 3rd, followed by Richie Biswell in 4th.

The #88 of Dave Collins started out front in Thunder Truck Heat #1, and out front is where he stayed. There were no changes in position the entire race, so they finished exactly the way they started; Dave Collins your race winner, followed by the #7 of Greg Wells in 2nd and the #77 of Jeff Reedy in 3rd.

Thunder truck Heat #2 had some exciting racing for 3rd spot for a few laps between the #28 of Ron Wilson and the #26 of Ryan Wilson, allowing the race leader, the #30 of Gerald Carter, and 2nd place #8 of Dave Collins to open up BIG leads for themselves. Gerald Carter easily scored the win, with an entire straightaway lead over 2nd place finisher Dave Collins. Ron Wilson won the battle for the 3rd place finish, followed by Ryan Wilson in 4th.

Late Model Heat #1 pole sitter, the #10M of Chad Pratt, decided he liked being out front, and stayed there the entire race. The #68 of Lance Alcorn and the #F13 of Dawn Mennel had a good battle going for the 2nd spot, and they were able to close in on Pratt towards the end of the race. Mennel gets a good run coming out of turn #4 and gets under Alcorn to take the 2nd spot on the last lap. Chad Pratt scored a convincing win, followed by Dawn Mennel in 2nd, Lance Alcorn in 3rd, and the #61 of Tony Talley in 4th.

Cross Flag The driver of the #10M Late Model, Chad Pratt, was another one of the drivers that we spent some time talking to tonight. Chad races with us from Bath, Illinois. His pit crewmembers include Lee, Tim, Paula, John, & Mike, and his car is sponsored by Club 54 &, Stoplight Liquor. Chad says his biggest fans are both of his daughters. When we asked Chad how his car was running, his answer was "Good." From the way his car looked in the heat race, "good" was a severe understatement! Chad's personal goal this season is to finish every week and to stay in the Top 3 in the Points Race. The driver that Chad looks up to the most is Tim Morris, because Tim always gives him help when he needs it. What does Chad like the most about Spoon River Speedway? It a good place to race. The least? The tire rules & the payouts. Chad also wanted to send out a special "Thank You" to the sponsors. We appreciate Chad taking the time to talk with us tonight, and we certainly wish him and his team a "Top 3" season!

The #29J of Lindell Jewel started on the pole in Late Model Heat #2, and stayed out front for the first 5 laps until the #19 of Tim Morris was able to get under him for the lead. The #M40 of Scott May was up into a battle for 3rd, but got caught up in the wet stuff in the high side of turns #1 & #2, and opened the door for the #M1 of Dale Munson and the #11 of Brad Denney to get underneath and around him. Munson and Denney then set their sites on Jewel, and got under him for 3rd and 4th on lap #6. Tim Morris held onto a good lead and scored the win, followed by Munson in 2nd, Denney in 3rd, and Jewell in 4th.

The #12T of Tom Turnbull and the #C90 of John Farris jump to an early lead in Pro Street Heat #1, but caution comes out on lap #1 when the engine lets go on Farris's car. The field got pretty spread out on the restart with no serious challenges for position. Tom Turnbull opens up a BIG lead on the rest of the field, easily scores the win. The #19 finishes 2nd, the #30 on 3rd, and the #5 of David Harris in 4th.

The #C27 of Jim Carter jumped to an early lead in Pro Street Heat #2, with a good battle for 2nd going on behind him between the #18 of Terry Pratt and the #00 of Steve Harper, and also for 4th between the #81K of Mark Ross and the #31K of Ken Gresham, Jr. Pratt is able to take the 2nd spot, and Ross and Gresham both get under Harper when he gets high in turns #3& #4. Jim Carter opens up another BIG lead with all the racing going on behind him, and takes home another checkered flag. Terry Pratt finished 2nd, followed by Mark Ross and Ken Gresham, Jr.

Hobo Heat #1 started with the #52 of Don Entrekin on the pole, and Entrekin stayed out front all the way to the finish. There was a lot of door-to-door racing for 2nd between the #5J of Jim Jorgenson, the #19 of Durland Pople, and the #50 of Aaron McKenrick. McKenrick gets around the other 2 cars and moves into 2nd, and starts closing the distance between him and Entrekin. Don Entrekin's motor lets loose going into to turn #1, but he keeps going, and he races it all the way back to the checkered flag in a cloud of smoke and wins the race! Aaron McKenrick finished 2nd, followed by Durland Pople and Jim Jorgenson.

Willie Heinz pulled out front early in Hobo Heat #2, and stayed out front until the end. The #5 of Danny Glover, who was sent to the rear for contact with another car on lap #1, was all the way up to 3rd on lap #2, and was able to pass the #711 of Eric Wisher. for 2nd place on lap #3. Willie Heinz opened up a BIG lead for himself, and brought home the checkered flag. Danny Glover finished 2nd, followed by Eric Wisher in 3rd, and the #35 of Josh Smith in 4th.

The #77 of Cliff Howard may have started last in Hobo Heat #3, but he didn't stay there for very long. By the first corner, there was a 4 way fight for the lead between the #6D of Jerry DeForest, the #99X of Ron Egli, the #01 of Rick Diegel, and the #47 of Andy Yerbic. Howard, moving up quickly on the leaders, moves into the 2nd spot by lap #2, and gets under the race leader, DeForest, coming out of turn #2 on lap #3. Attrition was high this race, with only 3 cars left on the track by the end. Cliff Howard scores the win, followed by the #8 of Clay Wisher in 2nd and Andy Yerbic in 3rd.

Cross Flag The driver of the #77 Hobo, Cliff Howard, was able to take time out of his busy night to spend some time with us. Cliff races with us from Canton, Illinois. His pit crewmembers include Ben Smith, Tom Smith, and Jeff Reedy, and his car is sponsored by Curless Flying Service and Davis Sand & Gravel. When we asked Cliff how his car was running, his answer was "Good". The #77 sure looked WAY BETTER than good in this race! Cliff's personal goal this season is to finish 2nd. The driver that Cliff looks up to the most is Phil Johns. Cliff says he has liked him since he was a kid. What does Cliff like the most about Spoon River Speedway? The high banks. The least? His paycheck! Cliff's closing comments were, "This is a fast track, catch me if you can!" Our thanks to Cliff for taking the time to visit with us. We wish him & his racing team the very best all season long.

There weren't any drivers that had been able to make their cars stick on the high side of the track tonight. It was wet, it was mucky, and it was slippery up there, but the #28 of "Jammin" Jimmy Hibser didn't let that discourage him in the Modified Semi Feature. Hibser took to the high side early to get around the pole sitter, #42 of Matt Smith, and he stayed out front the rest of the way. The #M21 of Justin Munson got around Smith and moved into the 2nd position in a hurry, with a battle for 4th going on behind them between the #17 of Rick Scott and the #69 of Randy Stuber. With everyone racing for position behind them, Hibser & Munson are able to open up a BIG lead and pull away from the rest of the field. The #5 of Mike Donaho, who started in the back of the field, gets an AWESOME run coming out of turn #4 on the last lap to take the 4th position away from Smith. Jim Hibser easily scores the win, followed by Justin Munson with a strong 2nd place finish. Rick Scott finished 3rd, and Mike Donaho in 4th.

The #25 of Phil Schnarr got around the #30 of Rob Bauman, Sr. and into the lead coming out of the first turn in the E-Mod feature. There was a good back-and-forth battle for 3rd between the #M17 of Brent Munson and the #M3 of Chuck McDonald, which allowed Schnarr and Bauman to break away from the rest of the field. Caution comes out on lap #10, and some lap cars get lined up right behind the race leaders, but Munson gets a GREAT jump on the restart to get under the lap traffic and moves into 3rd, and is quickly on the back bumper of Bauman looking for 2nd. Caution is out again on lap #12, when the #M3 gets turned sideways, goes off the high side of the backstretch, and takes a HARD hit into the mine tires. Chuck McDonald is able to climb from his car, everyone glad to see that he was OK after the hit that he took, but there was SEVERE damage to the #M3 car and the car was loaded onto a flatbed and taken to the pits. Munson gets another great restart, and gets around the high side of Bauman and moves into 2nd. A good battle is brewing a little farther back in the field for 4th spot between the #85E of Oscar Everett, the #21 of Daryl Barth, and the #3M of Chris McMahill. With all the racing going on behind him, Phil Schnarr has no problem scoring the Feature win. Rob Bauman, Sr. gets a GREAT run through turns #3 and #4 and makes the pass for the 2nd place finish right at the start finish line. Justin Munson finished 3rd, followed by Daryl Barth in 4th, and Chris McMahill in 5th.

The #192 of Brian Allen started on the pole in the Modified Feature, and everyone knew that once out front, Allen would be hard to catch. Allen got a good jump on the start, with the #28 of Phil Schnarr, the #12 of Eddie Bolander, and the #31 of Mark Anderson fighting for 2nd behind him. Caution comes out again on lap #4 for several cars getting together, bunching the field up once more. Bolander is able to get around Schnarr on the restart to move into 2nd, but moving up FAST on the leaders is the #25 of Butch Weisser, moving into the 2nd place fight with Anderson, Schnarr, Bolander, and the #00 of Ed Barth. Something goes away on Barth's car, forcing him to pull off the track, but Weisser is able to get under him and Anderson to take the 3rd spot. Allen, Bolander, and Weisser open up a little breathing room between themselves and Schnarr, Mark Anderson and the #34 of Bill Anderson. Caution came out again on lap #16, and Weisser got a good jump on the restart to take the 2nd spot from Bolander. Weisser gets a good run coming out of turn #4 and makes a challenge for the lead, but he makes contact with the leader, Allen spins, and Weisser gets sent to the back of the pack. Something goes away on Allen's car on the restart, and he slows way down, bringing out the caution, and handing the lead over to Schnarr. Several more cautions came out before this one was finished, but Phil Schnarr was able to hold of Eddie Bolander and bring home his 2nd checkered flag of the night. Eddie Bolander finishes 2nd, followed by Bill Anderson, Mark Anderson, and Casey Lappin. Congratulations to Phil Schnarr - tonight's E-Mod Feature AND Modified Feature winner!!

The #30 of Gerald Carter jumped to an early lead in the Thunder Truck Feature, and he stayed out front by himself the entire race. There was a lot of action going on behind the race leader. Contact between the #26 of Ryan Wilson and the #88 of Dave Collins escalated into an all out war between the two drivers, and unfortunately, the #31 of Harry Fourdyce wound up being the innocent victim in the whole thing, getting sent HARD into the mine tires on the front stretch after Wilson and Collins drive into each other. Luckily Fourdyce is able to continue, but Wilson drives off with only 3 tires left on his truck, and Collins leaves on a hook, considerable front-end damage to his truck. Carter gets a good lead on the restart, with some great door-to-door racing going on behind him for 2nd place between the #8 of Dave Collins and the #28 of Ron Wilson. Gerald Carter opens up a HUGE lead on the rest of the field and takes home another Feature win. Ron Wilson finished 2nd, followed by #8 of Dave Collins in 3rd, and Harry Fourdyce in 4th.

The #M1 of Dale Munson started on the pole in the Late Model Feature, holding off an early challenge for the lead from the #F13 of Dawn Mennel. The #M40 of Scott May, who started WAY back in the 10th spot, got around Mennel coming out of turn #4 on lap #2 and moved into 3rd, and quickly around the #19 of Tim Morris into 2nd. The #11 of Brad Denney was also moving up quickly, taking the 5th spot by lap #6. Caution come out on lap #7 when something goes away on the #10M of Chad Pratt, Dale Munson still the race leader, but Scott May is right up front with him. May gets his nose under Munson in turns #1 and #2 and takes the lead on the restart, but Munson doesn't give up, challenging May for the lead in every turn. Munson gets a good run in turns #3 & #4, trying to get back around May on lap #11, but he gets into the back of the #M40 car. May drives up and over the high side of turn #4, and Munson gets sent to the back of the pack for the contact. Mennel gets a good jump on the restart and moves around the #30 of Rob Bauman and into the 4th spot, but Bauman takes the spot back on the next lap. Denney works his way around the #19 of Tim Morris on the restart to take the 2nd position. Munson is moving up in a hurry, back into a 6th place battle with the #29 of Lindell Jewel and the #68 of Lance Alcorn by lap #14. If you let May start out front, it's pretty certain that's where he'll stay, and tonight was no exception. Scott May scores his 7th consecutive Late Model Feature win! Brad Denney finishes 2nd, followed by Tom Morris in 3rd, Rob Bauman in 4th, and Dawn Mennel in 5th.

The #18 of Terry Pratt jumps to an early lead in the Pro Street Feature, bringing the #C27 of Jim Carter and the #81K of Mark Ross to the front with him. The #12T of Tom Turnbull and the #10K of Kevin lane have a good battle going on for the 4th spot, and they are quickly joined by the #31K of Ken Gresham. Caution comes out on lap #7 when Pratt, the race leader, spins coming out of turn #4. Gresham pulls off the track under the caution, lots of smoke coming from his engine. Ross and Turnbull battle side by side for several laps for the 2nd spot, Ross finally able to get around Turnbull on lap #10. Ross closes in on Carter, challenging him for the lead with 2 laps to go. Jim Carter is able to hold onto the lead and score the Feature win. Mark Ross finished 2nd, followed by Kevin Lane in 3rd, Terry Pratt in 4th, and Kevin Lane in 5th.

The #711 of Eric Wisher started on the pole of the Hobo Feature and jumped to an early lead. The #8 of Clay Wisher, the #77 of Cliff Howard, the #5 of Danny Glover and the #50 go into turn #3 four cars wide and they all manage to come out of turn #4 in one piece, but several cars get together coming down the front stretch, and caution is out. No laps were scored, so they go back to the original lie up. Wisher jumps out front again, and Glover moves into 2nd, but the two make contact all the way through turns #3 & #4, and the both cars have to pull into the pits with flat tires. The #19 of Durland Pople is the race leader on the restart, but the #50 of Aaron McKenrick is able to get around him for the lead, bringing Clay Wisher with him. Wisher is able to move into the lead, but spins coming out of turn #4 when he hits the oil left on the track from the engine giving way on the #47 of Andy Yerbic. Only 1 lap is scored, and McKenrick gets another good jump on the restart, going around Wisher on the high side for the lead. Caution comes out again, and again, and the race leader, McKenrick spins in turn #2 to bring out another yellow flag. There's a good battle for 2nd between the #01 of Rick Diegel, the #77T of Willie Heinz and Howard, but caution comes out again on lap #4, this time for debris on the racetrack. The drivers get the yellow and the checkered flag at the same time, which tells them that if there's one more caution, the race will be over. Clay Wisher, Howard, and Heinz fight for the lead, with Eric Wisher and the #35 of Josh Smith right behind them. They do make it to the end without another caution, and Clay Wisher scored the Feature win. Cliff Howard finished 2nd and Willie Heinz finished 3rd. Eric Wisher spins the #711 on the front stretch coming to the checkered flag and can't make it to the start-finish line, which opens the door for Josh Smith to come in 4th, and the #22 of Greg Sullivan in 5th.

Once again, a big "THANK YOU" to Rabon Wyatt, Brian Allen, Chad Pratt, and Cliff Howard
for taking the time out of their busy night to talk to us. We'd like to wish them all a very safe & successful racing season.
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE OUT AT SPOON RIVER SPEEDWAY NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT FOR MID-SEASON CHAMPIONSHIPS!
There'll be plenty of GREAT DIRT TRACK RACING ……… guaranteed!!!
