Floyd Jordan, Jr. jumped to an early lead in E-Mod Heat #1, and stayed out front all the way. Behind him, the #64 of Jim Picardi and the #7W of Mark Branch had a good battle going on for 2nd position, but the #29 of Chad Terwilliger was moving up quickly, and took the 2nd spot by lap #4. Floyd Jordan, Jr. easily scored the win, followed by Chad Terwilliger, Jim Picardi, and Mark Branch.
The #25 of Phil Schnarr started on the pole in E-Mod Heat #3, and he was also able to stay out front all the way. The #30 of Rob Bauman, Jr. was right behind Schnarr in 2nd, and the two were able to open up a pretty good lead with the #3M of Chris McMahill, the #42 of Tim Bishop, and the #62 of Kevin Bills battling for 3rd place behind them. Phil Schnarr brought home another win, followed by Rob Bauman, Jr., Chris McMahill, and Tim Bishop. The #28 of Jimmy Hibser may have started 3rd in Modified Heat #1, but by turn #2 on lap #1, he was making GREAT use of the high side of the track and moved into the lead. The #25 of Butch Weisser opened up a nice lead in 2nd, with the #12 of Eddie Bolander and the #28 of Phil Schnarr fighting for the 3rd spot. "Jammin'" Jimmy Hibser scored a convincing win, followed by Butch Weisser in 2nd. Eddie Bolander claimed the 3rd spot "by a nose", and Phil Schnarr finished 4th.The #97P of Phil Johns had the pole position in Modified Heat #2, and if you are any other driver, you don't like to see Phil start up front! Johns pretty much "checked out" on the rest of the field, opening up a HUGE lead by lap #4. The #31 of Mark Anderson and the #5 of Mike Donaho were racing side by side for several laps, fighting for the 2nd position, with the #M21 of Justin Munson right on their back bumpers. Phil Johns scored a very convincing win, followed by Mark Anderson, Mike Donaho, and Justin Munson. The #17 of Rick Scott had the pole position in Modified Heat #3, and like most others tonight, was able to stay our front the entire race. The was some great door-to-door racing going on behind Scott for 2nd between the #69 of Randy Stuber and the #26 of JD Beal, and the #55 of Doug Cosby was moving up behind them. Rick Scott easily scored the win, followed by Randy Stuber, JD Beal, and Doug Cosby. There seemed to be a pattern developing here ……. The #34 of Bill Anderson started on the pole in Modified Heat #4, and he also stayed out front the entire race. A good battle for 2nd was going on behind him between the #192 of Brian Allen and the #22B of Richie Biswell, and the #98 of Andy Riggins was racing the #J12 of Jason Wagner for 4th. Bill Anderson scored the win, followed by Richie Biswell, Brian Allen, and Andy Riggins. The #77 of Cliff Howard started on the pole, with the #27 of Lonnie Stone right behind him in Hobo Heat #1, and the two were able to open up a nice lead with all the racing going on behind them. The #01 of Rick Diegel, the #35 of Josh Smith, the #6D of Jerry DeForest and the #19 of Durland Pople had a great battle going on for the 3rd thru 6th positions. Cliff Howard easily scored the win, followed by Lonnie Stone, Josh Smith, and Rick Diegel.Well, no surprise here ….. the #77T of Willie Heinz started on the pole of Hobo Heat #2, and stayed out front all the way!. Moving up quickly, after starting all the way in the back, was the #99 of Bill Willhelm, racing his way all the way up to a battle for 2nd with the #22 of Greg Sullivan on the 1st lap, with the #91 of Nick Christian right behind them. Willie Heinz held the lead and scored the convincing win, followed by Bill Willhelm, Nick Christian, and Greg Sullivan. The #90 of John Farris started in the back of the pack in Hobo Heat #3, but by lap #3, he had raced his way all the way up to the lead. The #711 of Kelly Pritchard ran in the 2nd spot most of the race, with a good fight for 3rd going on behind him between the #8 or Eric Wisher and #47 of Andy Yerbic. John Farris scored the win, followed by Kelly Pritchard, Eric Wisher, and Andy Yerbic. The #M40 of Scott "Scooter" May started on the pole in Late Model Heat #1, and just like everyone expected, opened up a nice lead for himself early in the race. The #M1 of Dale Munson and the #19 of Tim Morris were racing side-by-side for the 2nd spot, but by lap #5, Munson was able to take the position. Scott May scored another win followed by Dale Munson, Tim Morris and the #25K of Bill Kettering. The #11 of Brad Denney started on the pole in Late Model Heat #2, and he also stayed out front all the way to the checkered flag. The #30 of Rob Bauman moved up in a hurry, challenging the #F13 of Dawn Mennel for the 2nd spot by lap #3. Brad Denney easily scored the win, followed by Rob Bauman, Dawn Mennel, and the #59 of Dave Slayton. There was only one change in position in Late Model Heat #3. The #10M of Chad Pratt was the pole sitter, with the #29J of Lindell Jewel starting right behind him. The #61 of Tony Talley got around the #25 of Dwayne Walters, and moved into 3rd on the first lap, and the field was spread WAY out from there. Chad Pratt drove his way to a convincing win, followed by Lindell Jewel, Tony Talley, and Dwayne Walters. Attrition was unusually high in Pro Street Heat #1. Six cars started the race, but only two finished. The #81K of Mark Ross, who started on the pole, stayed out front all the way to the checkered flag, and the #85 of Coy Cooley finished 2nd.
Truck Heat #1 was pretty uneventful. The #30 of Gerald Carter started on the pole, the #8 of Dave Collins started 2nd, and the #7 of Greg Wells started 3rd. The field got pretty spread out right from the start, with no challenged for position throughout the entire race. They finished exactly the way they started with Gerald Carter winning the race, followed by Dave Collins and Greg Wells.
Thunder Truck Heat #2 was about as uneventful as Heat #1. We were minus a few trucks tonight, so there were only two trucks starting in the 2nd heat. The #28 of Ron Wilson started on the pole, and the #31 of Harry Fourdyce started in the 2nd position, and that's were they stayed throughout the race. Ron Wilson brought home the checkered flag and Harry Fourdyce finished 2nd. Because it was Mid Season Championships, ALL classes lined up for their features according to points. Before each feature, all the cars were brought to the front stretch, the drivers climbed out, and they were introduced to the fans. With all the point's leaders staring up front, it was sure to be some exciting racing. The E-Mod points leader, the #30 of Rob Bauman, Sr., started on the pole, and he stayed out front the entire race. The #M17 of Brent Munson and the #96 of Kirk Anderson battled most of the race for the 2nd position, both of them challenging Bauman for the lead throughout the race. Right behind them the #1 of Floyd Jordan, Jr. and the #4 of John Winters had their own battle going on for the 4th spot. The 3rd place starter, the #25 of Phil Schnarr, pulled into the pits early in the race with a flat tire, but he did manage to move his way back up to the front and into the 6th position by the end of the race. Rob Bauman, Sr. was able to hold off both Munson and Anderson and scored the Mid Season Championship win. Brent Munson finished 2nd, followed by Kirk Anderson, Floyd Jordan, Jr., and John Winters. Modified Points leader, the #25 of Butch Weisser, had the pole position in the Modified Feature, and held onto the lead until the #17 of Rick Scott was able to get around him on lap #3. The Anderson brothers, Bill in the #34 and Mark in the #31, were racing side by side for the 3rd position, with the #97P of Phil Johns, the #26 of JD Beal, and the #192 of Brian Allen right behind them. There was a lot of door to door racing, and a fair share of paint trading going on with everyone racing hard for every position. A restart on lap #13 saw Weisser, Scott, and Mark Anderson three wide racing for the lead, but Scott was able to hold them off, and Anderson moved into 2nd. By lap #17, Anderson was finally able to get around Scott and take the lead, with Allen and Beal closing in behind him. Mark Anderson stayed out front until the end, bringing home the Mid Season Championship Feature win. Rick Scott finished 2nd, followed by Brian Allen, JD Beal, and Butch Weisser.
Starting on the pole of the Late Model Feature was the point's leader, #M40 of Scott "Scooter" May, with the #11 of Brad Denney right behind him. May has pretty much dominated the Late Model Division for most of the season, but Brad Denney was definitely "hooked up" tonight and was able to get around May for the lead, and stayed out front all the way to the end. The #F13, which was being driven tonight by Rob Bauman, may have started in the 5th spot, but Bauman was able to get around the #M1 of Dale Munson for 3rd, and next around May to take the 2nd spot. Bauman tried to challenge Denney for the lead, but Brad Denney was able to hold him off and bring home the Mid Season Championship checkered flag. Rob Bauman finished 2nd in the #F13 car, followed by Scott May, Lindell Jewel, and Dale Munson. The point's leader, the #81K of Mark Ross, started on the pole in the Pro Street Feature, but he had a lot of company early in the race from the #31K of Ken Gresham, Jr. and the #18 of Terry Pratt. Ross, Gresham and Pratt battled door-to-door for several laps for the lead, and the three were able to break away from the rest of the field. The #10K of Kevin Lane and the #00 of Steve Harper had a good battle going on behind the race leaders for the 4th position. The #C27 of Jim Carter got caught up in an incident early in the race and had to leave the track, but he was able to make it back onto the track and raced his way back into the top 5 before it was over! Pratt was finally able to get around Gresham and move into the 2nd position towards the end of the race. Mark Ross held onto the lead and was the Mid Season Championship Feature winner. Terry Pratt finished 2nd, followed by Ken Gresham, Jr. Jim Carter, and Kevin Lane. The Thunder Truck point's leader, the #30 of Gerald Carter, started on the pole in the Thunder Truck Feature, which is exactly were you DON'T want to see Gerald if you are one of the other truck drivers! The #28 of Ron Wilson challenged Carter for the lead on the first few laps, but Carter was able to keep the lead, and as usual, managed to put A LOT of distance between himself and the rest of the field. The #31 of Harry Fourdyce and the #7 of Greg Wells were mixing things up in the back of the pack, trading off between the 4th and 5th spots for most of the race. Gerald Carter took home the checkered flag with a very convincing win at the Mid Season Championships. Ron Wilson finished with a strong 2nd, followed by Dave Collins, Harry Fourdyce, and Greg Wells. Once again, a big "THANK YOU" to Floyd Jordan Jr., David Harris, J D Beal, and Dave Collins for taking the time out of their busy night to talk to us. My apologies to these teams for not naming their sponsors; my "top notch" reporter neglected to ask them that question!
