Nienhiser Eager To Get Back to Racing Action After Weekend Wash Out

PETERSEN MEDIA: Following an up and down weekend that saw him win a Tri City Speedway on Friday night and then battle with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour at Lake Ozarks over the Labor Day Weekend, a rain out over this past weekend as Paul Nienhiser itching to get back racing as he is geared up for a pair of shows this Friday and Saturday night, with a possible third race Sunday night.

To grab a win on Friday and beat some talented drivers was pretty cool, Nienhiser said. “Lake Ozark had its ups and downs but it was good to have some really good speed against some really good cars. We ended up with 1 Top-10 and had some bad luck running in the Top-10 the next night. It was quite the accomplishment to transfer to the feature out of heats and qualifiers both nights with over 50 cars in the pits. I am definitely looking forward to getting back after this weekend.”

In his most recent action, Nienhiser was in action at Tri City Speedway where he would use a good pill draw in his heat race to pick up the win before pulling a six in the redraw.

On a wide and slick racing surface, Nienhiser flexed his muscle in the CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil/Mason Sound/Innovative Design entry as he would get to the lead in just three laps and begin to pull away from the field. Banging the boards all the way around the track, Nienhiser would start to move down the track as the cushion became to tricky.

Playing with his win, Nienhiser was still strong in the slick and was able to keep the field at bay as he notched his seventh win of the season.

Heading to Missouri to battle with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour, Saturday night saw him start seventh and finish fourth on the slick surface in his heat race which would be earn him enough points to move into a qualifier.

Lining up on the pole of his qualifier, Nienhiser would get taken to school by Sammy Swindell and slip back to second where he would finish and move his way into the feature event.

On a slick surface in the feature event, the slide job proved prevalent on this night and amidst a wild feature that saw cars going every which way, Nienhiser stayed strong as he closed the night out with a 10th place finish.

Sunday Night’s finale saw him again line up in the fourth row of his heat race, but on this night he was able to make some nice moves and get himself up to a third place finish that again put him in a qualifier.

Finishing fifth in the qualifier, Nienhiser sat ninth in points and in the feature event as he would line up in the 13th starting position with the four lock in drivers from Saturday night factored in.

In the 41-lap feature event, Nienhiser would settle into 10th where he would spend much of the race until lapped traffic did him in with 17 to go and he spun out and was forced to the rear of the field.

Making the decision to restart the race, Nienhiser would pick up a couple of positions as he salvaged a 17th place finish.

“It was a tough crowd of cars, and to make the show both nights is a great showing for us but like everyone we show up to contend for wins,” Nienhiser said. “Thanks to my crew, and I am really looking forward to this weekend.”

Nienhiser would like to thank CAM2 Blue Blood Racing Oil, Mason Sound, Innovative Design, Bradshaw Custom Pumping, Wessler Bros. Agency, Bob Hawks Auto Body, Littleton Storm & Timber, Fierce Herbicide, Sunstoppers Window Tinting, Engler Machine and Tool, FK Indy, Rider Racing Engines, Kaeding Performance, JRC Transportation, Signature Signs and Design, and Steve Thomas Racing for their continued support.

2018 BY THE NUMBERS: Races-44, Wins-7, Top 5’s-10, Top 10’s-20

ON TAP: Nienhiser will be at Jacksonville on Friday night and Spoon River on Saturday night.
