Mike Marlar

Sixth-place finish in Castrol FloRacing Night in America visit at Lincoln, leads standings

Mike Marlar invaded the Land of Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon to compete in the first round of the Castrol FloRacing Night in America Illinois Speedweek at Spoon River Speedway (Canton, IL).

In a field of 48 cars, Marlar outran fellow front-row starter Dennis Erb Jr. in his heat race to pick up the eight-lap victory. With $23,023 on the line in the opener, Mike faded to finish 12th in the 50-lapper.

For another $23,023-to-win Castrol FloRacing Night in America event on Thursday at Lincoln Speedway (Lincoln, Ill.), Mike followed up the sixth-fastest qualifying lap in his time trial group with a heat win. Dropping one position in the 50-lap feature, Marlar recorded a sixth-place finish.

Mike is currently leading the Castrol FloRacing Night in America point standings.

On Friday evening at Farmer City Raceway (Farmer City, Ill.) as the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) debuted on the quarter-mile oval, Marlar was running in a transfer spot in his heat before slipping over the banking, relegating him into a B-Main. As his consolation race was staging, a rain shower rolled and postponed the remainder of the event to May 15th.

The following night at Fairbury Speedway (Fairbury, Ill.), Mike raced his way into the $30,000-to-win rain-delayed FALS Spring Shootout with a runner-up showing in his heat. Rolling off seventh, Marlar was an early retiree from the 60-lapper on lap 25.

Slated to start deep in his B-Main on Monday for the rain-delayed Farmer City 74, Marlar was a scratch to save equipment.
